Composition Through Collaboration
~ The Tilde Connection ~
My name is Antonie Bodley, Ph.D. Most people know me as “Tonie, the Writing Coach,” and with over fifteen years of teaching and tutoring, it’s easy to see why. I offer award-winning coaching and editing services through the academic and professional writing process. I’m here to help you through the writing — from concept to completion.
What I do for you:
Meeting one-on-one in a virtual space, I work with you to understand your writing process and a productive “brain space.” With goals and achievable tasks, together we can tackle the often frustrating challenge of getting words to page. My experience coaching professional and academic writers will help you achieve your writing goals — from completing a degree to publication and grant proposals.
Together, we can…
-
From brainstorming to outlining, I help you find the direction and goals of your work. Every piece of writing needs inspiration. My coaching will help you plan your writing.
-
Every writer has a hard time filling in the blank page. I get to know your writing process and help find strategies to get your words to the page.
-
I help as you revise and finalize your work. From finding more developed language to improving grammar, we can elevate and finalize your writing.
I’m familiar with many publication guidelines from APA to IEEE.
-
Sometimes, plotting the course and finding inspiration with a collaborator can be the best way to tackle a big project.
Because of my wide range of interests and experiences, I love to bounce ideas back and forth with writers to build accessible language and share ideas.
What I’m doing…
For the last three years, my specialization has been in working with graduate students in the field of Artificial Intelligence — specifically in Machine Learning and Reinforcement Learning. Most of my students are in graduate programs at the University of Alberta and are part of the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii), a research institute focused on advancing artificial intelligence “for good and for all.”
My Philosophy:
Writers and Researchers Always Need a Little Support.
~ Authorship. Every writer has a unique perspective and a distinctive voice. My goal is to help you become the author you want to be. I’m not the writer — you are. I’m your coach and tutor.
~ Collaboration. Working together with writers and researchers, I contribute my support and experience to keep you going with the highest academic standards.
~ Plagiarism Avoidance. When you can write with confidence, there’s no need to use the words of others. I strongly believe in the importance of avoiding plagiarism in any form.
